I.
Philosophy is being teached in secondary schools and in high schools for pupils from 16 years (from grade 11 to 12).
The pupils can have from 6 to 10 hours in the period of two school years.
Ethics is being teached in secondary schools and high schools for pupils from 6 years (from grade 1 to 12).
The pupils can have 1 hour weekly.
Philosophy subject is being teached in Lithuania from 1990.
The date of legal introducing of teaching of ethics is 1992.
Philosophy subject is facultative (optional). (There is an option between psychology and religious science).
Ethics is an obliged optional subject (it is obligatory teaching of moral education which includes two alternatives: to choose between ethics and religion (catechises).
There are no written exams in philosophy.
There are no written exams in ethics.
There are both subjects - philosophy and ethics.
Sometimes there are supplementary working groups in philosophy and ethics.
Participation at the national Philosophy Olympiads - since 1997; participation at IPO, also at IPO in Warsaw - since 1997.

There are no obligatory curricula and syllabus of teaching philosophy (since 1994).

There are no obligatory philosophers, obligatory philosophical fields or problems in teaching of philosophy in Lithuania.
The fundamental subject of ethics from grade 10 is philosophical based one.
There are no regulations concerning methods in teaching of philosophy.
There are no regulations concerning methods of teaching in ethics.
Teaching of philosophy in an interdisciplinary way sometimes is possible: philosophy and literature, philosophy and ethics, philosophy and history.
Teaching of ethics in interdisciplinary way sometimes is possible: ethics and religion, ethics and philosophy.
"Europe as a unity of common values or epistemology" as subject in philosophy courses is possible, but not obligatory.

Qualification of teachers of philosophy: university study necessary, also for teachers of ethics. Conditions of qualification for teachers of philosophy: university diploma, the same for teachers of ethics.
There are no different degrees of qualification of teaching of philosophy and of teaching of ethics. The Number of semesters (years) of the study of philosophy: 8 semesters for bachelor and 12 semesters for MA.
The Number of semesters (years) of the study of ethics: at Vilnius Pedagogical University - one course every semester (8 semesters for bachelor and 12 semesters for MA); in other universities - there is no specific study of ethics.
The Number of semesters (years) of practical training of teaching of philosophy: one course during the study for bachelor and two courses during the study for MA.
Ethics: one course during the study for bachelor and two courses during the study for MA The Number of additional courses of teacher training for teachers of philosophy in active due: sometimes, but very short and theoretical, also for teachers of ethics.
IV. The main thing is that philosophy and ethics were included in school's programs only after the Soviet regime fall down.
There is the possibility of practical development of qualification in the Centre of pedagogue's professional development and in regional education centres. There is the possibility of acquirement of higher qualification for working teachers in the Centre of pedagogue's professional development and in regional education centre's as well.
Lithuanian Philosophy Teacher's Association (LFMA) was established in 1995.
LFMA has organized 2 Philosophy Days (recommended by UNESCO), every third Tuesday in November.
